About Singing Hills

A Retreat Center for Churches To Go Deeper Together.

Singing Hills is a Christian retreat ministry in Plainfield, New Hampshire. We partner with churches so your people have unhurried space with God and each other. The person carrying the retreat never carries it alone.

If you are checking us out because a trusted pastor or coordinator sent you here, this page is for that second look: who we are, why we operate this way, and who leads the work.
Your Church Is Our Mission
We Exist to Help Churches Grow People in Jesus.
Our mission is to encourage spiritual growth in a relationship with Jesus Christ for every group we host. The campus, the meals, the planning conversations, and the staff prayer before you arrive all serve that same end.
We are glad to serve Christian churches across denominational lines. God's truth in Scripture is the basis for what we believe and how we host. Serving the Biblical Church is the work.
Pentecostal, evangelical, Methodist, immigrant congregations: churches from very different traditions retreat here in the same seasons, and every one of them leads its own weekend.

How that mission shows up in the weekend (your program, your voice, logistics held by our team) lives on our Partnership approach.
Why Partnership Is Better
He Was Formed in the Retreat Space Before He Ever Ran One.
Phillip Lee, Executive Director, on the relational component of the gospel.
“The Lord used a retreat to move everything I was learning from my head down into my heart. It was the relational component of the gospel, being in community with other people, that made it come alive in a way a classroom never did.”
Phillip Lee, Executive Director
It’s Personal
Philip Lee came to Singing Hills by way of Christian missions and the hospitality industry. He served as Associate Director before becoming Executive Director on November 19, 2022. His hope is that people across New England come to know and follow Jesus, and he sees this retreat center as part of how that happens.
The conviction underneath his leadership is older than the job. During college, three months in a discipleship retreat moved what he was learning from his head into his heart. The relational part of the gospel came alive there in a way classroom study never managed.
He runs Singing Hills the way he does because he was once on the receiving end of what retreat space can do.

Let’s Talk
Phillip Lee, Executive Director
Phil leads Singing Hills' partnership posture with churches: your program and your leaders at the center, our team carrying hospitality and logistics so discernment stays with your people. He prays with staff for incoming groups by name before they arrive.
Your Singing Hills Hospitality Team
Guest services, kitchen, facilities, and planning support work as one hospitality ministry. Most of them you will meet by name the weekend you arrive.
A Rich Heratige
Since 1972, Making Room for the Church.
Singing Hills began in 1972 when a local farmer, Earl King, donated land so Christian leaders could bring their people for camps and retreats. Camp founder Warren Biebel brought the camping-ministry vision that shaped the early years.
Don Jordan, raised in Plainfield, served as Executive Director from 1987 to 2022. His service spanned decades of the ministry's life. He continues to serve on the Board of Directors and still facilitates a retreat called God Speaks.
Today the campus is still open in every season, and churches still come for the same reason: leaders need somewhere to bring their people away from the noise. The buildings matter. The continuity of calling matters more.

What Happens Next
You'll talk with someone from our team about your church's retreat goals. If we are the right fit, you get a clear planning path and timeline. If not, we will tell you honestly and point you somewhere better when we can.
We feel that God has particularly called us to come alongside the people who have the burden and responsibility of planning and executing a retreat. Churches return for 3, 5, and 10 years because the partnership deepens. Ask us to connect you with a coordinator or pastor who has walked this before.
